Para comemorar o 100º episódio do nosso Wikimetal, propus publicar nesta data, em paralelo, aqueles que considero os 100 discos ao vivo essenciais.

Não foi nada fácil chegar nos 100, afinal, tive que estabelecer critérios. Um destes foi de não incluir EPs ao vivo, cujos cortes feriram o coração, como a não inclusão do Maiden Japan (Iron Maiden), Kaizuko Ban (Accept), Return to Apocalyptic City (Testament), Saints Will Conquer (Armored Saint) e Intermission (Dio).

Como toda a lista, sei que vai gerar alguma polêmica, mesmo que não seja esta a minha intenção. Vai haver questionamentos, porque uma banda desconhecida está entre os 100 e um determinado disco de um medalhão, não. A justificativa é: entre os meus critérios adotados estão a importância histórica do lançamento, o melhor momento da banda (auge), performance ou produção absurda e sem hipocrisia, o meu gosto pessoal (não acima dos demais critérios, mas que influencia nas escolhas, não vou negar). Quando há uma não inclusão de um live de uma banda importante é porque é aquém do(s) supracitado(s) e não significa necessariamente que não seja bom, apenas não figura entre os 100.

Evidente que ignorei o fato daqueles álbuns essenciais e fantásticos que foram recriados em estúdio e foram desmascarados, mas como não sabemos ao certo se todos os demais são fidedignos, pois certamente há ainda coisas que são mascaradas, há picaretagem, então, deixemos isso de lado.
