The Swedish band Draconian has just released their seventh album, Under A Godless Veil, bringing a breathtaking veil of melancholy.
This release brings the depths of melodic doom metal through songs filled with dark sounds, featuring singer Heike Langhans in a captivating mix of somber sadness and contrasting vocals from the angelic Heike and the death growls of Anders Jakobsson .
The album is an hour long, graced with a haunting cover by Natalia Drepina , carries the legacy of doom metal à la My Dying Bride and Trees Of Eternity into the new decade, and will drag the listener into a bleak cosmos along with the opening notes of the captivating opening track “Sorrow Of Sophia,” which intertwines beauty with paralyzing depression.
The musical sound is rich in slow rhythms and fragile notes that lead through sterile soundscapes, which will echo in the listeners' ears long after the final chord has died down.
Listen to the album below and then watch the music video for "Sleepwalkers".
