According to him, this has to do with the moment when he really started listening to Black Sabbath
David Ellefson of Megadeth revealed in an interview that he was never "a big fan of the Ozzy in Black Sabbath ".
It's nothing against Ozzy Osbourne, but he prefers another period of the band. "I probably heard 'Paranoid' because I played with my band when I was about 13 or 14 years old. But honestly, I was never a big fan of the Ozzy years in Black Sabbath.".
He only really got into the band when Ronnie James Dio joined on the album Heaven and Hell . "That was my Sabbath era. In particular, on this one and on Mob Rules ."
He continued, “It’s because of the age I was when I was introduced to heavy metal. Sabbath was cool with Ozzy, but it was kind of a throwback to what Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin were doing. Honestly, that generation came before me. I grew up listening to Kiss, Styx, Cheap Trick , and Van Halen . Then I started listening to heavier stuff. The Ronnie Dio era in Rainbow , Sabbath, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Motorhead . That’s my generation.”
