Video: Chris Cornell talks about the song "The Promise"

The musician composed the track for the film of the same name.

A video of singer Chris Cornell in the studio recording the track "The Promise" has been released. In it, the legendary vocalist discusses the song and the importance of the message it carries.

"The Promise" was written for the film of the same name, which tells the story of a love triangle that takes place during the Ottoman Empire. The song reflects on the Armenian genocide that occurred at the time, a cause that Cornell always sought to highlight.

“As a father, it’s hard to imagine not being able to protect your wife and children. This story needs to be told (…) Otherwise, people have short memories, they give up and they forget. They don’t realize that if they don’t look back, then we have no way to navigate into the future.”

Chris Cornell passed away at the age of 52 in May 2017. The musician committed suicide by hanging himself after a concert in Detroit, Michigan.
