The instrument was left behind at a friend of Hendrix's house in New York

One of the guitars belonging to one of the greatest guitarists in music history, Jimi Hendrix , found a new owner last Saturday, the 8th, for no less than $216,000 through GWS Auctions .

The instrument was one of Hendrix's companions at the beginning of his career, and he used it after leaving the US Army in 1962.

The guitar was with the artist during his time with the Isley Brothers and Jimmy James and the Blue Flames ; however, it was left behind at Mike Quashie in New York after he traveled to the UK to begin The Jimi Hendrix Experience . Fortunately, his friend, before his death, wrote an authenticated letter of provenance confirming the instrument's history.
