Cornell passed away in 2017
The remaining members of Soundgarden have revealed that they want to record a new album. They would use a series of demos from the late singer Chris Cornell .
Cornell died on May 17, 2017, after taking his own life. Guitarist Kim Thayil said the band had worked on a series of recordings before his death.
In an interview, he said: "They were demos, but the quality of the demos was great because Chris was interested in home recording techniques."
“Now, everything is at a standstill. We tried to get it going two years ago. But we don't own the recordings. We have copies, but we need the files. We politely asked, suggesting it would benefit everyone involved. If the band had the files, we could finish the songs.”
According to him, "all parties involved would have to realize the value in allowing creative colleagues access to the material."
