In an interview during Bloodstock Open Air, Slayer frontman Kerry King spoke about a possible new album from the band, to follow their last release, "Repentless." King says that despite having several compositions ready, a new album is still some time away
“We have a lot of leftover material from the last album because we wrote a lot of stuff, and we also recorded a lot of stuff. If the lyrics don't end up changing the music, these tracks are ready. So we're very far along without even having started the new album.”
He continues: “Jeff and I usually wrote until we had about an album and three more left over. But this time we have about eight left over. And even more ideas, like half-songs that you can end up combining with another half-song. So we already have about ten songs, and that's very unique for Slayer.”
We could probably start something at the end of next year, but we still have a lot of touring next year… So if I had to guess, I'd say we'll only start recording in 2018.”.
