“Repentless” will be the first album without Rubin since 85
In an interview with Metal Hammer, Slayer frontman Kerry King revealed the reasons why the band broke their contract with Rick Rubin's American Records label. According to King, the label offered them an offensive contract.
“I thought we’d still be with American Records today, but when I received the contract, I felt insulted. To me, that contract said, ‘Good luck. You won’t have good luck here .’” Slayer then signed with Nuclear Blast and producer Terry Date, breaking the tradition that had been in place since “Hell Awaits” in 1985.
“I feel it’s progress. No matter how many albums we make in the future, I look forward to working with Terry Date .” The new producer has his name on projects with Pantera, Deftones, and Slipknot.
Slayer's new album, "Repentless," is scheduled for release on September 11th.
