King speaks in an interview
Slayer frontman Kerry King spoke in an interview with Snowboard about the incident earlier this year when a photo of the band with Donald Trump was shared on Slayer's social media. The photo was removed shortly afterward.
When asked if he uses the band as a political platform, King replied:
“The Trump issue is definitely an individual ideology. Whenever I talk about politics in the band's songs, and I do, I can't say I don't, but I base it on the American government because it's the government I know, but I try to keep it vague enough so that anyone from any country can relate. I hate my prime minister, or president, or government, I try to do it in a way that anyone can feel the message, because if I only did it about the US, only Americans would like it. Or hate it, depending on what I say. I have a song on the next album that's basically about Trump's antics, but it will basically be about the Republicans messing things up.”.
In a recent interview with Westword, King spoke about Trump: “I never used to wake up and watch CNN, but now I do it just to see what nonsense Trump said that day. And it’s not even weekly, it’s daily.”
