Tom Araya made the post
A spokesperson for Slayer spoke to Rolling Stone about a controversial photo that appeared on the band's Instagram, showing Slayer with US President Donald Trump. The photo was posted on the day of the presidential inauguration on the 20th, but was taken down shortly afterwards.
The band's representative explained that the photo was published by Tom Araya, and that it shouldn't have been posted on the band's social media: “We all have our personal opinions, some of which have even been publicly stated in the past. But Slayer has never supported a political party or candidate and we intend to continue that way.”
Last Tuesday the photo was reposted with a caption written by Araya: “Believe it or not, this photo was posted by me, Tom Araya, on January 20th, because I thought it was funny. I was amazed by the comments on the photo, some positive and some negative, but in two hours it already had 10,000 likes. But I never imagined that there are so many people commenting on their dislike for the new president. Whether you like him or not, he is the president. I woke up the next day and someone had deleted the post. Can someone explain why?!”
Last July, Kerry King declared that she would vote for Hillary Clinton , explaining that Donald Trump was the "biggest liar" she had ever met.
