Slash said the best part of being a guitarist is being in a band
Guitar legend Slash told a Vancouver radio station that he prefers playing in a band to being a solo guitarist.
“I love playing guitar, but in the industry what really drives me is being in a band,” he explained. “I never wanted to be a solo guitarist. I didn’t want to write complex instrumentals or things like spending my life in a studio. I wanted to write some songs and play them live. That’s what keeps me going: getting in front of people and playing.”
He explained his passion for performing live. “Being in the studio is a means to an end, which is playing live and being part of a group. Not just a solo thing where I hire some guys to play what I say. I like to create a dynamic with my bandmates. Playing for people every night is very liberating. You play the same music so much that you end up noticing new details that entertain you. There's a lot of room for improvisation.”.
