Slash has announced his own blues festival called SERPENT (Solidarity, Engagement, Restore, Peace, Equality N' Tolerance). The event will tour 27 North American cities between July and August.
SERPENT will feature Warren Haynes Band, Keb' 'Mo, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Robert Randolph, Samantha Fish, Eric Gales, ZZ Ward, Jackie Venson, and Larkin Poe. Tickets are on sale.
The tour begins on July 5th in Bonner, Montana, and runs until August 17th in Grand Prairie, Texas. In between, the tour will visit cities such as Los Angeles, Cincinnati, Toronto, Boston, New York, Atlanta, and Huntsville.
The announcement of SERPENT comes shortly after Slash announced a new blues album, Orgy of the Damned , which, like Slash's previous solo albums, features several guest singers and musicians.
The festival was created with a charitable purpose. A portion of each ticket and VIP package will support the following charities chosen by Slash: The Equal Justice Initiative, Know Your Rights Camp, The Greenlining Institute, and War Child.
