Slash , guitarist for Guns N' Roses , has announced his first horror comic book, Deathstalker.
The new project is a partnership with Vault Comics in which the musician presents a comic book version of the 1983 sorcery film Deathstalker , which tells the story of a powerful warrior tasked with fighting the forces of darkness within a fantasy realm. The film was released in 1987, 1988, and 1990.
In a press release, Slash said: “It’s a reimagining of that beautiful sword and sorcery movie from the 80s. Think swords, assassin women, colossal monsters and an unmistakable 80s vibe. We’re mixing that nostalgia with contemporary humor that will have you turning the pages… So please, if you share my passion for all things wicked, check it out!”.
The series will be released next year, with no date yet announced. A Kickstarter campaign has been launched offering a deluxe hardcover edition and bonus comic book merchandise by special order. Deathstalker features a script by Tim Seeley, art by Jim Terry , and production by Roger Corman . The comic book trailer has been released and can be watched at the end of this article.
