During an interview with German radio station Regenbogen (via Blabbermouth ), Slash revealed that he, Myles Kennedy , and two other bandmates contracted COVID-19 while recording their new studio album. The group will release the album 4 on February 11th and has already released the first single, "The River Is Rising".
"The funniest story about this album was the whole Covid thing, because we went to Nashville on the tour bus for safety reasons, we didn't use commercial transport. And that's where we recorded the whole album," the guitarist said.
“Then I got a call from Myles in the studio when I was getting ready to do the overdubs , and he said, 'Dude, I tested positive.' And then two other guys tested positive, everyone went into quarantine. And we still had to do percussion and backing vocals , but we kind of stopped everything, mixed what we had, which was already quite a lot, and recorded the backing vocals in the back of the house where we all were, already in quarantine.”
Slash then recounts that his bandmates recovered, and he soon tested positive. “I quarantined, but I had already been vaccinated, so I only quarantined for a few days. I left, we did the percussion, mixed the rest of the album, and went home. That was the experience we all had, having to go through this whole Covid thing during the recordings.”
