Rock musicians speak about the passing of Andy Johns.

Producer passed away yesterday

Producer and sound engineer Andy Johns, who worked with bands such as Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Van Halen and Chickenfoot, died yesterday at the age of 61, apparently from kidney problems.

Several rock musicians used Facebook and Twitter to post messages about Johns. Check out some of the messages:

Slash: “RIP Andy Johns. One of the great producers/sound engineers of our time. Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Free, the list goes on. You will be missed.”

Michael Anthony (Chickenfoot, Van Halen): “I just heard about the death of my friend and producer, Andy Johns. Words cannot express my sadness at hearing this. Those who had the pleasure of working with him know what I mean. I love you, brother. Anette, you are in my prayers and thoughts.”

Doug Aldrich (WHITESNAKE, DIO): “Andy Johns was a rock star. He was the man. A huge inspiration to me. He would stay until the end to make sure the music was good. RIP.”
