For those who like football: It's like a Flamengo fan wearing a Vasco shirt, you know? It just doesn't work!

By Tiago de A. Almeida

I've been wanting to talk about this whole thing with everyone wearing Ramones shirts for a while now, but I hesitated a lot and I don't even know why I hesitated so much. This subject has already had a bigger boom (prominence), but it's still relevant, at least to me.

I went for a walk the other day wearing a Ramones shirt and I saw SO MANY people wearing that shirt, and when I say so many, I mean SO MANY!

Honestly, this doesn't just happen occasionally, it's been happening all the time!
Lots of people wearing the shirt of this band that changed the history of Rock and changed the lives of many people who could never have had a band (which is my case, by the way).

But after the union of those four names written on the shirt: Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee, and Tommy, it became possible, and many good bands emerged following that Punk Rock line, and that was 40 years ago, right, kid, 40 years! And thanks to that union, I also had a band, played my three chords, and was happy.

Are you going to tell me you've never seen someone walking down the street wearing that shirt? Are you going to tell me you haven't seen Anitta wearing a Ramones shirt? Far be it from me to lay down the law and say that only Ramones fans or people who know the history of the band and Punk Rock and blah blah blah can wear that shirt… (although that's actually the right thing to say) – I'm just kidding.

Of course I'm not going to do that, because neither I nor anyone else can tell a person what they can or cannot wear. I'm just saying this because I know some people might have a hard time understanding things, so we explain, right? It's MY opinion, and anyway, I don't want anyone crying or wanting to hit me.

Note 1: This is a post from a passionate Ramones fan.
Note 2: The text may seem a bit prejudiced in some parts.
Note 3: It may indeed be prejudiced.
Note 4: If you can't handle it, don't get involved.

Here are 4 reasons why you SHOULDN'T wear a Ramones shirt:

1 - You don't even know what Ramones are

If you've read this far and wear a Ramones shirt, you've probably already realized that what you thought was just a brand or a fad is a band that made history, or rather, continues to make history today.
But just a hint, a very subtle one: Maybe you enjoy listening to funk or axé music, or you like going to a sertanejo universitário concert to pick up a girl here and there, or maybe you are that girl… In that case, I don't think you'd really like wearing a rock band shirt, would you?!
BUT, if you fit into one of these categories, you might say: "Ah, but I do like rock, I love the sound of that guy who died, Charlie Brown Jr.
I like Jota Quest, Skank, O Rappa… Oh, I also like Guns N' Roses, Creed…"
Then in that case, my friend, wear a Creed shirt, a Jota Quest shirt, or even a Rolling Stones shirt, the one with the tongue. (You also thought it was just a new brand). But please, don't wear the Ramones shirt.

2 – This doesn't match your pink cap or your Nike sneakers with fluorescent green laces

You only just discovered that Ramones is a Punk Rock band. Until now, that beautiful shirt you wore to the club, to church, on the street, in the rain, on the farm, or in a little thatched house was just a fashion item, so since we're on the subject of fashion, let's go!

You know those names written on the shirt? You know that print there? Well, man, that doesn't go with a pink cap, or fluorescent green sneakers, and it doesn't look good with those tight shorts either.

If I were you, I would never wear that shirt again. Seriously.

3 – This isn't a brand like Lacoste, Abercrombie, Billabong, Hollister, or whatever

Still on the subject of fashion: It's much better for you to wear an Abercrombie or Lacoste shirt than a Ramones shirt. Because that's what adds value, that's what ostentatious funk music tells you to wear, it doesn't suggest a Ramones shirt, it suggests a Hollister shirt.

4 – Ramones is a Punk Rock band

Ramones is a band and you don't like them, so don't use a BRAND (since you prefer to call it that) that you don't like. Ramones isn't a crew, it's a band.

For those who like football: It's like a Flamengo fan wearing a Vasco shirt, you know? It just doesn't work!

And that!

HEY! HO! LET'S GO!
