The film will be based on the story told by Mickey Leigh
A new film about the history of the legendary band Ramones is being produced. Titled I Slept With Joey Ramone , the film is based on the book of the same name, written by Mickey Leigh Joey 's brother .
Nick Cassavetes will direct, and Gene Kirkwood will handle production and part of the financing of the project, which is expected to focus on the formation and development of the punk movement while telling the story and influence of the Ramones at the time.
“Nick is very involved in this project with Mickey Leigh,” Kirkwood said. “The plan is for the two of them to discover talent and create a real band.”.
