Paul Bostaph felt pressure to return to Slayer.

See the statement.

In an interview with Aggressive Tendencies, the Slayer drummer spoke about his second return to the band in 2013. The musician was asked if he felt any pressure to return.

“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel it. The difference between when I first joined and now is that there was no social media, there was no internet when I first joined the band. That changes the focus and people’s opinions a lot, or when I first joined the opinions were there but I never knew about them.”

I had already played with the band, but does that mean I was aware of everything in terms of expectations and how I should play? I mean, I think I'm playing better than when I first joined the band, without a doubt. So, yes, I mean, instinctively I knew what I needed to do, the tempos, when to slow down, all those things you learn in the 10 years I was away, I learned the chemistry with the band, you learn those things.

But was it up to par with my standards? No. It's better now. Having said that, because of the climate, social media, and everyone expressing their opinion, it's read and heard, that created some pressure. But you know, I function better under pressure.”
