The singer was considered before the band invited Scott Weiland to complete the lineup

Myles Kennedy recently revealed during an interview that he was invited to join Velvet Revolver twice.

The singer, who is currently with Alter Bridge and The Conspirators on guitarist Slash , said he was invited to audition, but felt it was best to decline. "I don't know why, but I felt that at that moment it wasn't going to work."

He goes on to say that soon after Scott Weiland joined the band, he “knew that it needed to happen.” “Those records [with Weiland on vocals] are great. I think he was a perfect fit for the sound they were making.”

“They invited me twice… The first time, Slash doesn’t remember this, but it was in 2002… Before Weiland.” He goes on to say that seven years later, after Scott Weiland’s death and while Alter Bridge was on hiatus, they invited him again: “It was something we talked about but never put into practice.”

Velvet Revolver released two studio albums, Contraband (2004) and Libertad (2007), and consisted of Scott Weiland, Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum , and Dave Kushner .
