Myles Kennedy has several projects in his musical career. Besides being the vocalist for Alter Bridge for almost two decades, the musician also maintains a successful partnership with Slash and is preparing to release his second solo album .

In an interview on the Appetite for Distortion podcast (via Ultimate Guitar) , the artist listed the differences when working with the Guns N' Roses and Mark Tremonti , his colleague in Alter Bridge.

To begin, Kennedy listed the most obvious differences: the sound of each project. “With Alter Bridge, there are definitely more metal anthems, even metal at times, it’s heavier. With Slash, it’s based on the blues,” he observed.

The creative process also differs considerably when working with each band. With Slash, the guitarist presents the instrumental almost ready, with riffs and progressions already thought out. “Occasionally, I’ll say, ‘Hey, have you thought about taking this chord progression and putting it here? Or adding it here…’”, Kennedy explained. “But, most of the time, he’s doing that part and my job is to put melody and lyrics into it.”.

“Whereas with Alter Bridge, Mark and I came up with our own musical and melodic parts, and we put the songs together that way,” he continued. “So it’s a different process.”.

second solo album, The Ides Of March , will be released on May 14th via Napalm Records . See the tracklist and cover art below.
