Representatives from Korzus and Claustrofobia send messages
Antônio Araújo from Korzus and Marcus D'Angelo from Claustrofobia wrote messages expressing their sadness and sorrow at the passing of Jeff Hanneman.
Check out the emotional statements and the deep respect they both had for one of the greatest guitarists in the history of Thrash Metal.
Antônio Araújo (Korzus):
“I received a call today from a great friend and fellow Slayer fan… who told me, in a mix of despair and disbelief, that Jeff Hanneman had died… He was on the street and asked me to go online to check if it was real. I rushed to the computer… and I was very sad to find out… There’s no point in looking for a reason, whether it was the sting that killed him over time, or the alcohol that damaged his liver… None of that matters… What saddens me most is knowing that another of the great legends of heavy music has left this world. I had the chance to see him live a few times, but unfortunately I never met him personally… I couldn’t tell him how much I was influenced by his art… I can only hope that he’s in a good place, with an inexhaustible supply of beers, guitars and amplifiers… headbanging somewhere near the South of Paradise… RIP Jeff Hanneman! Your music is eternal and through it you live.”
Marcus D´Angelo (Claustrofobia):
I am extremely saddened by the loss of JEFF HANNEMAN. Everyone will die, it's the cycle of life, but when it happens so prematurely, it's always shocking, especially when it's a reference point for something we love.
Creator of the most killer style of playing guitar, one of my top influences!!!
Although Gary Holt is one of the most complete guitarists in Thrash Metal, Jeff is irreplaceable. He was an essential part of Slayer's dirty spirit. Slayer will never be the same without Jeff, a great composer, marginal musicality! I will never forget when Daniel Bonfogo told me in 1993 that he had heard a band that was the heaviest of all, SLAYER, and JEFF HANNEMAN immediately became a reference for me. I was 12 years old and I was a little German boy and I saw that crazy German guy with the black JACKSON guitar full of black and white stickers, it was awesome, I could have looked like him, hahaha. My first JACKSON guitar, which I still use today, is covered in black and white stickers because of JEFF HANNEMAN. I'm an unconditional fan of Slayer's guitar duo, especially Jeff. He wasn't a poser; he would simply go on stage and shred those classics (most of which he composed himself). This is just a brief, heartfelt comment as a fan and lover of heavy metal music worldwide. I will continue to honor his legacy.
RIP MASTER and thank you for what you created and for all the inspiration!
