According to Metal Hammer, in an interview on the show One On One With Mitch Lafon, guitarist Kiko Loureiro said that the decision to leave Angra came before he was invited to join Megadeth . Check out the excerpt from the interview:
"The decision began before Megadeth. The band has had many ups and downs, and in 2008 and 2009 we weren't very optimistic. We weren't very excited about the band."
I married a Finnish woman, so I came to Europe a lot. I wanted to change something in my life. I moved to California for my career and, in a way, started to drift away from the band.
And then came the first email from Megadeth asking if I could talk to Dave. The first thing I did was call the guys from Angra. I asked my wife and myself, but I knew it was something incredible. I'm a huge fan of the band.
So I called the guys and they were really excited. They all said, 'You have to do this, I would do the same.'"
