The album should be released sometime in 2013.

Slayer guitarist Kerry King spoke about the progress of the band's upcoming album. In an interview with Metal Obsession, King said that two songs are already finished, one is ready without vocals, and nine more remain to be recorded.

Although he didn't specify a release date, King said the album should be in stores by the end of the year. "Don't hold me to it, but that's what I think," said the guitarist.

In the interview, King also said he has no news about Jeff Hanneman's health, but stated that he would accept having Gary Holt as a permanent member of the band. "If he stayed forever, I'd be OK with that. But if Jeff showed up ready to play, I'd say the show is his."

Regarding the choice of Jon Dette as Dave Lombardo's replacement drummer, King said he was his first choice. The guitarist did not elaborate further on Lombardo's departure for the Australian shows.
