Kerry King talks about how Araya deals with the Slayer theme

Check the statement.

In an interview with a Danish radio station, Slayer's frontman Kerry King spoke about the themes of Slayer's lyrics, which are frequently related to horror and criticism of religion. King answered a question about whether Tom Araya had ever refused to sing a song he had composed because he was a religious man. The statement follows:

“It’s funny because Tom, historically, doesn’t talk to me about this. Usually Jeff and I would talk about it, I don’t know why. But I always thought we’d reach a point where I’d say something so offensive that this could happen, but it hasn’t happened yet. I think he sees that Slayer is fun, it’s entertainment, and I think he can rationalize his participation. Whether he believes it or not, it’s not about his feelings. I think that’s how he goes about it. In interviews he says his beliefs are his beliefs. But Slayer, from the beginning, is a band that sings about taboo subjects, horror movies, anti-religion. That’s what Slayer is, and doing something different from that would make any fan we’ve ever had hate us. And I like it. I like horror movies and dark themes.”.
