In this week's Wikimetal poll, Kerry King was voted the toughest metalhead, with 26% of the vote. Phil Anselmo came in second (23%) and Zakk Wylde third (18%).

Known for being ruthless, King has a long history of conflicts with other metal musicians. Starting with members of Slayer itself, the guitarist shows no mercy when speaking about Dave Lombardo's departure from the band for questioning the band's profit sharing: "Lombardo shot himself in the foot."

King has also never hidden his less-than-positive feelings towards Megadeth's leader, Dave Mustaine, his former bandmate. In a 2009 interview with Guitar World, King said: “I have absolutely no respect for Dave. As for his playing, I don't criticize him, he's great. But he's a hypocrite, and I have no respect for that kind of person .

The Best Songs to Release Anger

His feud with Machine Head is no secret either. In 2001, King called the band "sellouts" and blamed them for inventing Rap Metal. In response, Flynn simply said that Kerry had eaten so many cheeseburgers that his brain was starting to clog up.

To top it all off, the guitarist doesn't hold back on the rest of the world either: "Generally speaking, humanity is made up of damn idiots."

The 11 Best Slayer Songs

Despite the various controversies, Kerry King has also been on the other side, contributing to numerous bands, participating in benefit concerts, and even intervening to help with a marriage proposal made by a Slayer fan to her boyfriend. Controversies aside, Kerry King is one of the most important guitarists in the history of Metal and continues to gift us with brilliant riffs, solos, and songs.
