Kerry King , former guitarist of Slayer , revealed his five favorite guitarists Lipps Service With Scott Lipps ( via Blabbermouth

The guitarist's list includes: Ritchie Blackmore ( Deep Purple and Rainbow ), Tony Iommi ( Black Sabbath ), Eddie Van Halen ( Van Halen ), Glenn Tipton ( Judas Priest ).

And finally, adds his friend, Zakk Wylde , guitar legend, currently with his band Black Label Society . However, according to King, Glenn is his favorite and the most underrated due to the innovation in his solos.

In 2015, King criticized the lack of modern "guitar heroes," comparing them to legends like Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads . He highlighted the apathy of some current bands, mentioning that their guitarists lacked inspiration.

According to Kerry King, one of the co-founders of Slayer, famous for breaking musical rules, creating unique riffs requires freedom, and consequently some traditional methods need to be ignored.

Kerry King and her solo career

Currently, the guitarist is solidifying his solo career with the release of From Hell I Rise , launched in May 2024. The album features production by Josh Wilbur and renowned musicians such as Mark Osegueda and Paul Bostaph .

It's worth remembering that, as already announced here by Wikimetal , Kerry King will be one of the acts at the Bangers Open Air festival , which will take place on May 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 2025, at the Memorial da América Latina in São Paulo.
