Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis spoke in an interview with MusikExpress about Babymetal, who are currently opening for the band on some tour dates. Davis defended the Japanese band:
"I like Babymetal. It's wrong in every way. It's a lot of fun. The Asian Pop thing with Metal and the choreography..."
How can you not be entertained by this? It's the whole energy, the whole thing. It's not necessarily the music, or them, or what you're looking at. It's the complete package, the whole thing.
The first time I heard it, I thought, 'Wow, that's amazing!' Because I like strange things, things that go against the grain.
And everyone was going crazy, either hating or loving it. It's one or the other. I thought I'd seen it all, but when I saw Babymetal I thought, 'Wow, this is really intense.'.
People who hate Babymetal are closed-minded. There are the Metal purists who are very pure about music and think it has to be a certain way. And then there are the other people who think it's just music, if you like it, you like it. Who cares? There's nothing wrong with liking something like that. Calm down.”
