Guitarist dies due to liver failure.
Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman died at 11 a.m. in California. He was 49 years old. The band's official Facebook and Twitter accounts follow:
"Slayer is devastated to announce that their bandmate and brother Jeff Hanneman passed away around 11 AM near his home in Southern California. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He leaves behind his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy, and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be greatly missed."
