New album on October 7th.

In an interview with Kaaos TV, Twisted Sister guitarist Jay Jay French spoke about the disappearance of young bands from the current rock scene. Check out his statement:

“When I was 17, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors… none of them were over 26 when I was 17. When we were 17, we never went to see bands that were 60 years old. We saw bands that were 25. If I told my mother I was going to see a 60-year-old band, she would look at me like I was crazy, or think I was going to see a jazz or classical music band. So now we play at festivals where all the bands are 60 years old. Us, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Kiss, AC/DC. They're all 60 years old. Maybe 50, if you count Metallica.”

Ozzy Osbourne says there are no more rockstars.

So I ask everyone, where are the 25-year-old rockstars? Where are they? You can't name them. Someone mentions Muse, they're not 25; they're much older than that. Avenged Sevenfold; they're not 25, they're much older than that. Slipknot; they're not 25, they're much older than that. So the next generation doesn't seem to be here, and I don't know why. I'd like to know. Because the new generation of pop music is gigantic, isn't it? There are many women in pop, aren't there? And hip-hop, and rap, and country music. Where is Rock? Rock kind of isn't here.

He continues: “In South America, we have fans aged 17 to 22, they fill football stadiums. And I ask them, ‘What’s the new band?’ ‘Oh, we don’t like the new bands.’ Well, then… I don’t know what to say. Like, seriously? There have to be a lot of them. Can’t you think of one? Two? They put some bands in our shows because they have to fill the line-up. We just played in Mexico, and there were some bands in the line-up that were young and just starting out. And there’s no enthusiasm for them. So I don’t know… These are strange times.”
