Jay Jay French , guitarist and founder of Twisted Sister, spoke with Nando Machado , co-founder of Wikimetal , during an episode of The Wikimetal Happy Hour about his new book Twisted Business: Lessons from My Life in Rock 'N' Roll.
The musician shared details about the book and how difficult it is to deal with music as a business in addition to the musical aspect. “I’m a businessman, and the music industry consists of two worlds: music and business. And most musicians forget about the business side. But if you forget about the business side, you can lose a lot on the music side as well.”
Jay Jay continues: “Actually, if you think about the big bands that came out of the 1972/1973 crop, we have Kiss , Judas Priest , AC/DC , and Twisted Sister. There are many other bands from that era, but we remember those four. We all managed to survive. And we probably all have crazy stories to tell. And I think our stories are the most interesting because they really tell you how tough this industry is and how hard it is to maintain a career with the unbelievable highs and lows.”
