Jay Jay French , guitarist and founder of Twisted Sister, spoke with Nando Machado , co-founder of Wikimetal , during an episode of The Wikimetal Happy Hour about the group's success and his new book, Twisted Business: Lessons from My Life in Rock 'N' Roll.

The musician said that if he had known that Twisted Sister's success would take so long to happen, he would have given up. "If, when I was watching the Beatles on television, someone had asked me what success was, I would have answered 'women, screaming and a gold record', because at the time everyone thought that having a gold record was what mattered."

He continued: “If someone had told me I would have a gold record, I would have asked 'when? in five years?' and then they would have told me no and I would have asked 'ten years?' and they would have said no again, I would have been like 'then when?!' and they would have answered 'in 20 years and six months'. I would have given up right then and there, I would have stayed in school.”

Jay Jay also reveals that if he had known it would take Twisted Sister 10 years to get a record deal, he would have given up. "But that's the thing, you don't know! So you just keep going and going." He then explains that his book details every step he took.
