Iggor Cavalera, founding member of Sepultura and currently in Cavalera Conspiracy and the electronic project Mix Hell, participated in a reinterpretation of "Que País é Este" by the Brazilian band Legião Urbana.
Universal Music released a version of the hit, recorded by a team of musicians from various styles: Iggor Cavalera, Tales from the Reggae band Maneva, Badauí and Luciano from CPM 22, MC Zaak, famous for his participation in Anitta's song "Vai, Malandra," and the Pop singer Clau.
“We wanted to draw a parallel between Brazil of yesterday and today, and we brought together a team of artists who were more connected by their identification with Renato's lyrics than by their musical genre,” says Miguel Afonso, artistic manager of the record label. “The power of Renato Russo's songs motivated us to create an environment for renewing the composer's catalog, due to his historical importance, both as the vocalist and leader of one of the greatest Brazilian rock groups of all time, Legião Urbana,
and as the individual strength of a complete artist,” adds Alice Soares, the project's creator and strategic marketing manager at Universal Music.
Renato Russo, lead singer of Legião Urbana, would have turned 58 this year if he were alive. The singer passed away in 1996 due to complications related to AIDS.
Along with the music, a documentary was also released, which can be watched below.
