Vocalist Stu Block and bassist Luke Appleton have officially announced their respective departures from Iced Earth .

The decision came one month after the band's guitarist and founder, Jon Schaffer , participated in the invasion of the United States Capitol on January 6th, and four weeks after he was arrested by the FBI.

Stu Block's statement reads:

“Hello everyone,
Well, there are times when you have to reassess your life, your work, and your path to the future. That being said, I have informed Jon and his current manager that I am announcing my resignation from Iced Earth, effective immediately.
Before making any personal decisions, I needed these last few weeks to digest the situation and respect the others in the band who were also processing what happened. I am very grateful to everyone for respecting this. It is the best decision in many respects for my personal and professional growth. It’s time to move on, heal, and thrive.
Much love and respect to you all. Stay tuned for cool things to come soon! It’s time to embark on a new chapter. Be good to each other. Stu Block.”

Bassist Luke Appleton was more succinct in his statement:

"In response to recent events and circumstances, I have notified Iced Earth management and Jon that I am resigning from my position as bassist for Iced Earth immediately.
Thank you to everyone who sent me their support and love during these difficult times. Thank you!!! Luke."

These departures come on top Century Media 's announcement that they removed Iced Earth from their official website Hansi Kürsch 's announcement Demons & Wizards project he was working on with Schaffer.
