Slash revealed how many guitars he takes on tour and the logistics behind the shows.
In an interview with LA Lloyd , the guitarist commented: “I consistently tour with two bands. So with Guns N' Roses , we take two sets to do international dates. So we'll play in the United States, and I already have a set in Europe for when we get there. And then that first set will go, say, somewhere like Australia. It's economical and less time-consuming and so on. I have about 15 guitars in each set. So that's 30 here. When I'm with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators , I have about eight guitars in each set.”
The stories of these and many other guitars will be told in the book *The Collection: Slash *, to be released by Gibson , Gibson Publishing . Announced in August, the book features photos and accounts of the famous instruments that have been part of his successful albums and tours. “It’s been incredible working with Gibson to create a platform for me to talk about my favorite thing, guitars. This book is a great showcase of all the great guitars I’ve collected over many years,” said the musician about the partnership. The 300-page project will begin distribution in January 2023.
The Collection: Slash features two versions: personalized and deluxe. Both will have a limited number of copies signed by the artist himself.
In addition, Slash participated in an episode of the Gibson TV The Collection , in which he and host Mark Agnesi discuss guitar collections. The full interview can be watched at the end of this article.
The guitarist's partnership with Gibson extended to the also recently established Gibson Records . The label's first release was the album 4 (2022), which is Slash's fourth album to be released with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators.
Gibson Brands President Cesar Gueikian spoke about the importance of expanding the brand into other services: “We continue to leverage our iconic past and lean into the future by creating more opportunities for music fans around the world to experience original stories. With Gibson TV , Gibson Records , and now Gibson Publishing , we are organically growing our own media platform that continues to create compelling original content.”
