Guitarist died from alcohol abuse
In a Facebook post, Slayer informed fans that Jeff Hanneman had passed away from cirrhosis caused by alcohol abuse. According to the statement, no one knew the severity of his condition until his final days.
The band also clarifies that Hanneman was not on the list to receive organs, and that the guitarist seemed excited and eager to compose a new album.
Jeff Hanneman passed away last Thursday at the age of 49.
