Gary Holt , guitarist for Slayer , has announced that he will be leaving the band's European tour to be with his father, who is ill.
“My father is nearing the end of his journey,” he said, “I’ve been playing these last shows with a heavy heart, and it’s with that heart that I announce I’m leaving Slayer’s European tour. I need to go home to help care for my father in his final moments.”
Phil Demmel , who just played his last show with Machine Head , has been called in to replace Holt for the upcoming shows. He will make his debut with Slayer this Monday, the 3rd, in Denmark.
Slayer will be performing across Europe in the coming days as part of the band's farewell tour.
