Jansen explains on Instagram
Nightwish vocalist Floor Jansen received media attention last week for commenting in an interview with Metal Hammer that Slayer is "incredibly boring ." Jansen then posted on her official Instagram defending her comment:
"Apparently I caused a stir in the Metal world when I was asked which was the most Metal album I owned. Thinking that Slayer isn't my type doesn't mean I don't respect the band for who they are and what they've done. I just won't listen to them. Just as I imagine they don't listen to my music.".
The reaction this caused online saddens me. We all have the right to our opinion. But my comment was taken out of context and received attention solely for the purpose of 'causing shock'. Does this mean I need to stay silent next time? No. Does it mean I should be offended by so many people I didn't offend? No. I don't like Slayer. Can we get over this?
