"This song is about unity and peace... I want this album to be a meditation."
Duff McKagan Guns N' Roses bassist's solo album
“The real reason for this album, and the lyrics of 'Tenderness,' is that I don't want to be just another politician. Nor just another voice to add where there's already too much noise,” McKagan said.
In contrast to the sound of Guns N' Roses, McKagan takes a lighter approach in "Tenderness." The music relies primarily on pianos and acoustic guitars.
“This is a song of unity and peace… and I want this album to be a meditation and to bring healing. If that goal isn’t too difficult,” he continued. “I can use this marginal voice I have as an artist to help. As a father, I need to say and do something now… Because I love my girls and my wife and I love my country. I feel I need to be strong and use my voice now. Do it while I still can. Maybe I’ll never have another chance.”
