Dee Snider , lead singer of Twisted Sister , spoke about the group's 50th anniversary. To celebrate, the group announced on September 10th that they will reunite for a series of concerts . No dates have been confirmed yet.

In an interview with the American radio station 102.3 WBAB , Snider, who in recent years has criticized band reunions, explained why he also decided to do this. According to him, his health was one of the reasons he changed his mind.

“I’m not going to lie, and I can only tell you so much, but the absolute truth is this: I turned 70 this year and had a health scare. I’m fine, but it shook me. I’m not going to say [what it was], but I’m fine. It really made me reassess a lot of things. Back in my 40s, 50s, 60s, I thought nothing could shake me. Twisted Sister retired 10 years ago, when I was at my limit. I rethought some things. Part of it was looking and thinking, ‘Am I ready to die?’ You never know when you might quietly pass away in the middle of the night. Or when your time is up. Did I really want that to happen without shaking things up one more time?” he stated [transcription via Metal Injection ].

According to Dee Snider, he was the one who initiated contact with the other members of Twisted Sister: “It never came from them. We talked, but they never brought it up because I kept saying, 'This isn't going to happen, guys, it's over, the band is finished, as I've already told everyone.' But, as I said before, I had this life-changing experience where I reevaluated a lot of things. So I went after them. I said, 'Guys, what do you think about doing this one more time?'”
