Dee Snider says he earned over R$1 million from music in the SpongeBob movie

Twisted Sister's "I Wanna Rock" was transformed into "Goofy Goober Rock" for the film

During an interview on The Jeremy White Podcast, Dee Snider Twisted Sister song "I Wanna Rock" ended up in the SpongeBob SquarePants movie with altered lyrics and the name changed to "Goofy Goober Rock".

Dee Snider recounted that he received a call with the offer and immediately refused: “I was furious! Are you kidding me? This is my art, this is my soul.” However, after they made him an offer of $300,000 – approximately R$1.5 million at the current exchange rate – he accepted.

"It was so much money, I had two kids in college, I was like, 'I can sing 'Goofy Goober Rock' for that number. I'm a whore, but I'm an expensive whore.' So we agreed, they didn't ask me to sing."

Snider said he didn't write the lyrics and agreed that the film's soundtrack composers would handle that. "But for $300,000 I'd do anything," he replied when Jeremy asked if he would have rewritten and sung the song.
