Drummer will miss Australian shows

Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo announced yesterday that he will be replaced during the Australian tour. Lombardo apologized to fans who were hoping to see the original band members, and said he is sad and shocked by the situation.

The drummer explained that conflicts arose when he decided to look at the financial results of past tours and realized that the band only receives 10% of the total tour profit. After discussing this with Tom Araya, they both hired auditors to analyze Slayer's finances.

“I realized that I played shows around the world in 2012 and wasn’t paid anything, except for a small advance. And furthermore, I would only be paid if I signed a contract stating that I wouldn’t know how much I would receive for future tours and that I couldn’t discuss this in interviews.” Lombardo explained that when speaking with Kerry King, the guitarist said he wasn’t interested in creating problems. Lombardo replied that if that were the case, he should find another drummer.

Two days later, Lombardo received an email from his lawyers, saying he would be replaced during the shows in Australia. The drummer will be replaced by John Dette, who is currently playing with Anthrax.
