Chris Cornell 's widow , Vicky , shared a video of the musician performing a cover of "Fast Car," the 1988 classic by Tracy Chapman . In it, she created a montage with photos and videos of him at various moments in his life.

The post was published last Saturday, the 20th, the day that would have marked the 60th birthday of the Soundgarden and Audioslave .

In the video caption, Vicky wrote: “Although I remember him as the wonderful husband, father, and human being he was, I would like to celebrate his entire life and everything he gave us. On his 60th birthday, we can all celebrate his genius as an artist who redefined music, but also the incredible man who touched and changed lives.”.

She ended with the message: "We love you Chris – happy birthday!"

In 2021, Chris Cornell's estate released No One Sings Like You Anymore: Volume One , a collection of covers that Cornell recorded to celebrate his musical inspirations. At the time, Vicky revealed that she had plans to release a second volume, but did not reveal any further details.

Death of Chris Cornell

On May 20, 2017, Cornell, aged 52, passed away in Detroit, shortly after performing with Soundgarden.

According to the Associated Press , the medical examiner reported that Cornell hanged himself in the bathroom of the hotel where he was staying, hours after the show. Paramedics were unable to resuscitate Cornell, and the singer was pronounced dead by a doctor.
