Nearly three years after Chris Cornell's death, the musician was honored at the 2020 Grammy Awards this Sunday, the 26th.
The posthumous, self-titled album released in November 2018 won the award for Best Packaging/Insert for the artwork created by Jeff Ament (Pearl Jam, Temple of the Dog), Barry Ament , and Joe Spix. Chris Cornell is a compilation of 17 songs, including two previously unreleased tracks such as “When Bad Does Good” and Cornell's version of “Nothing Compares 2 U”.
On the singer's official social media accounts, his widow Vicky Cornell shared a message of gratitude: “Congratulations Jeff & Barry Ament, thank you for this incredible work of art, your dedication and love for Chris. Thank you to UMG and everyone who helped create such a beautiful work of art in memory of Chris. He would be so proud.”
Chris Cornell passed away in May 2017, a victim of suicide.
