Chris Cornell 's rendition of the 1989 Guns N' Roses , "Patience," recently reached the number one spot on Billboard's mainstream rock chart , also marking the singer's first solo number one track.
The beautiful and moving cover was shared on July 20th of this year , the day the artist would have turned 56 if he were still alive. “His birthday seemed like the perfect time to share this and celebrate Chris, his voice, music, story, and art. It’s true what they say about a man not being dead as long as his name is still remembered… and, through his art, an artist’s soul still illuminates those who still remember him. Releasing a song that was special to Chris keeps a part of him here with us – his heart and soul. His love and his legacy,” says the social media post about the release of the cover.
Amidst difficult situations for the artist's family, such as seeing Chris's statue vandalized or learning that an unauthorized biopic is in production , this milestone certainly comes at a good time to honor the memory of the idol.
