The vocalist performed a solo show in the city during the war of the 1990s
This weekend, the city of Sarajevo declared Bruce Dickinson an honorary citizen to thank him for the support he gave to the Bosnian capital during the war of the 1990s.
During the world tour to promote her solo album Balls To Picasso , Dickinson performed a concert in Sarajevo in December 1994, arriving in a humanitarian convoy escorted by UN forces. The concert was featured in the 2016 Scream for me, Sarajevo!
“In a world where most things last about five minutes on social media, it’s incredible that, almost 25 years after the show we did in Sarajevo, this means so much to people that they’re giving me this symbolic award,” said Bruce Dickinson.
More than 11,000 people died during the 44-month blockade of Sarajevo.
