Babymetal has become the first Asian artist to reach number one on the Top Rock Albums chart in the United States, according to Billboard is responsible for the ranking.
The feat was achieved with Metal Galaxy , Babymetal's new album. In the United States, the album sold 28,000 copies in its first week of release. Of this number, 27,000 are physical copies.
The album's commercial performance propelled it to the top of the Top Rock Albums chart, a position it had never held before with an Asian artist. The album also reached the top of the Hard Rock Albums chart and the 13th position on the Billboard 200, the American market ranking that encompasses all genres.
