N ' Roses frontman Axl Rose and former Penthouse model Sheila Kennedy have settled a sexual assault lawsuit through a private agreement, according to information obtained by Rolling Stone . The case stems from an accusation of sexual assault that occurred in 1989 in a Manhattan hotel room, in which Kennedy accused Rose of violence and rape.
Axl Rose has vehemently denied the allegations since the beginning of the lawsuit last year, stating: “As I have done from the start, I deny the allegations. There was no assault.” Rose's lawyer, E. Danya Perry , celebrated the outcome of the case and emphasized the impact of the lawsuit on the vocalist's life.
Terms and conditions
Finally, the parties finalized the agreement on the condition that the case be dismissed with prejudice, preventing its reopening in the future. Furthermore, the parties did not disclose the terms of the agreement and agreed to bear their own legal costs.
Kennedy originally made the allegations in her 2016 No One's Pet, Look Away (2021), which addresses sexual misconduct in the music industry. According to her, the encounter at the hotel began consensually but turned aggressive. The case was filed on the last day of the deadline allowed by Adult Survivors Act , which offers a temporary window for filing old sexual assault allegations.
This was not the first case involving accusations against Rose. In 1994, Axl Rose's ex-fiancée, Erin Everly , accused him of abuse, but they settled the matter out of court.
