Ann Wilson will release a cover album in tribute to Chris Cornell, Tom Petty and more.

The project will pay tribute to artists who have passed away in recent years.

Ann Wilson , one of rock's most famous and powerful voices, will release a new solo album on September 14th via BMG. Titled Immortal , the album will feature ten tracks that will serve as a tribute to Wilson's favorite singers who, sadly, have passed away in recent years.

For the new project, the Heart teamed up with fellow producer Mike Flicker, who has previously worked with her and her sister Nancy , and will feature appearances by Warren Haynes and Ben Mink .

Immortal will feature covers of Tom Petty David Bowie 's "I'm Afraid of Americans ," Leonard Cohen Audioslave 's "I Am the Highway" (in tribute to vocalist Chris Cornell) , and other tributes to artists and colleagues such as Amy Winehouse , Glenn Frey, George Michael , and Gerry Rafferty .

In explaining the project, Wilson revealed that she chose works that inspire her, “Their souls may have left us, but their music will play forever. These were the poets of our time, and their expressions should be honored. Poetry is eternal and elemental, like carvings in a rock.”
