This version will be part of the singer's new album
We previously reported that Heart , Ann Wilson , is preparing to release a new studio album. In it, she will pay tribute to artists who inspired her and, sadly, have passed away.
Among those honored is Chris Cornell , frontman of Soundgarden and Audioslave , who died at age 53 , a victim of suicide. For him, Wilson prepared a cover of "I Am The Highway," a track originally released on Audioslave's debut album in 2002.
“This is my favorite Audioslave song,” the singer revealed upon releasing the cover, “It has a special meaning for me because Chris [Cornell] was my friend. The lyrics of 'I Am The Highway' are about dissatisfaction and alienation. It's about not joining the liars.”
The vocalist's work will also feature covers of songs by David Bowie , Tom Petty , Amy Winehouse and George Michael , among others. Immortal will be released on September 14th.
