El Record Store Day es una tradición que se lleva a cabo desde 2007, cuando varias tiendas de discos de vinilo independientes se unen para lanzar títulos exclusivos en una fecha específica.
Este año, el evento tuvo lugar el 21 de abril y vendió 733.000 discos a lo largo de la semana. Entre los lanzamientos se incluyeron sencillos y álbumes inéditos como Greatest Hits de Bruce Springsteen, Welcome to the Blackout (Live London '78) de David Bowie y Roxy: Tonight's the Night Live de Neil Young , que encabezó las listas de los más vendidos.
El sencillo más vendido fue Led Zeppelin , «Friends»/«Rock and Roll» —que también marcó el primer lanzamiento de la banda en el Record Store Day—, superando a «Let's Dance» de David Bowie en su versión de 12 pulgadas.
